Our favourite lunch spots in east London

Thinking of treating yourself or your team to something other than the same old Tesco meal deal but stuck for where to go?

Check out our round up of the best East London eateries for grabbing a quick and delicious bite with colleagues right round the corner from your office space.

Where to go for lunch in Shoreditch

As you might expect, there is certainly no shortage of fantastic lunchtime destinations in hip and happening Shoreditch. No doubt you’ve heard of Dishoom, but if you’re yet to try its house black daal, spicy lamb chops or signature gunpowder potatoes, we think it’s high time you paid a visit. If you’re based as nearby as the SHACK15 workspace, there really is no excuse not to. Alternatively, just up the road from Dishoom you’ll find the meat lovers haven Blacklock where just about every delectable cut of pork, beef, and lamb is on the menu. Totally worth the inevitable meat sweats if you ask us.

The best lunch destination in Spitalfields

There really is nowhere better to grab a quick bite than a local foodie market and Spitalfields Market is about as good as they come. Score the perfect lunchtime takeaway at food trucks like Katsutopia which makes a mean katsu curry, epic bao buns and addictive loaded katsu fries. Or, head to Ebby’s Kitchen for one of their freshly made Turkish wraps and salads.

Top lunch spots in Dalston

Office workers based in the likes of The Co-Dalston’s cool office spaces are a lucky bunch thanks to the huge variety of quirky, independent eateries that all seem to be receiving rave reviews across the board. First up is the local diner Snackbar, which offers a small but perfectly formed lunchtime menu that currently includes a rather tempting Cuban sandwich and a deep-fried pain au chocolate bread and butter pudding. Then for the vegans, veggies and anyone who appreciates great meat-free cuisine there’s Andu Ethiopian Vegan Café where lovingly made dishes like hearty stews and spiced greens are served in a traditional style with rice and flat breads.

A quick bite in Canary Wharf

If wellbeing and sustainability are important to you in your working day, then Island Poké is the place for you, especially if you’re just round the corner at the WeWork office and coworking space on Churchill Place. Build your own nutritious poké bowl from delicious proteins including ahi tuna, salmon and tofu and a veritable rainbow of fresh fruit and veggies and rest assured that this eco-conscious eatery sustainably sources all its fish and uses 100% biodegradable packaging.

Where to go for lunch in Hackney Wick

If you’ve worked up a serious appetite and nothing but carbs will do, get yourself down to Natura Café & Pizzeria for an authentic, Italian, lunchtime feast using only the best ingredients. Classic and well-priced pasta dishes like Spaghetti alla Carbonara and Penne all’Amatriciana are bound to hit the spot while you simply can’t go wrong with anything from the extensive pizza menu.
